The Golden Ring of Russia

The oldest centers of early Russian culture are situated in their respective regional centers, in which unique church grounds, cathedrals, churches, and belltowers of the 12th to the – 19th centuries. These are Vladimir, Suzdal, Alexandrov, Murom, Kostroma, Tver, Rostov, Yaroslavl, Pereslavl-Zalessky, Uglich, founded in the period from the 9th to the 10th centuries. At the dawn of their history, almost all of them were self-sufficient princedoms, and Vladimir was even the capital of the Russian land in the 12th century. With time, all of these lands became part of the Moscow princedom.
