Following our serie of cultural events within and around the cities of Vevey and Montreux situated along the Swiss Riviera vaudoise, obviously the visitor has to think about how to find a good place where to stay. Although Switzerland is synonym of kindness and cleanliness, prevention remains better than cure! So here we are. For a pleasant stay the Galerie d’Art Clément recommends the Hôtel Les Trois Couronnes and the Mirador hotel in Vevey or l’hôtel Du Lac. For a fine gastronomy-time several hostels are proposed among whom we find the Auberge de l’Onde and the Auberge de la Veveyse in St-Légier – a nice town upper Vevey facing the Lake of Geneva (or Leman Lake). What more? The guest may also pay a visit to La Grange in Môtiers, Neuchâtel

Somewhere along the Swiss Riviera vaudoise in Switzerland near Montreux (which town is well known for its Music Festival) there is the city of Vevey. Wine history, art galleries and cultural spaces are at every step. November 2009 the Galerie d’Art Clément welcomes paintings by Franck Bouroullec. An other section of the gallery is dedicated to the australian aboriginal art.
These last years the Clement Gallery presented various artists among whom are Nicolas Imhof, Nancy Ross Nungarrayi, Peg Leg Tjampitjinpa, Corti, Monique Pella, Alfredo Echazarreta, Tingari, Gilbert Garcin, Minnie Pwerle and many more from France, Australia and all over the world.
Vevey is a unique place. The city of Charlie Chaplin. This is also where we may find a giant fork in the lake! Some 500m west of the centre you can’t miss the giant green building on the waterfront, Nestlé’s world HQ. To the east, Vevey merges imperceptibly with its neighbour, the colourful port village of La Tour-de-Peilz. Along the way, you’ll pass a photogenic statue of a bowler-hatted Chaplin twirling his cane amidst the roses on the Quai Perdonnet just east of Place du Marché, followed shortly after by the Alimentarium. Vevey is a city to discover!
Best hotels in town are probably Les Trois Couronnes in Vevey, the Hôtel du Lac or the Mirador Hotel. As the finest restaurants we may suggest the Auberge de l’Onde in St-Saphorin or the Auberge de la Veveyse in St-Légier not far from Vevey and Montreux, along the Swiss Riviera vaudoise

Voted 4th Coolest Small Town in America by Budget Travel. For relaxation or for visiting Coyote creek farm, historic hoosier theatre, patriot memorial park, wine trail and more!
From area wines, twirling batons to culinary delights sizzling on grills, the Swiss Wine Festival each year celebrates, as well as salutes, the cultural heritage of Switzerland County, Indiana. Now in its 38th year, the four-day event, held on Vevay’s riverfront, uniquely blends tradition and fun. From opening day on Thursday to closing time Sunday evening, the Swiss Wine Festival caters to all ages and interests. Arousing polka music to toe-tapping country emanate from the three entertainment stages. Several of the youth-oriented contests sport colorful Swiss dress, ranging from intricate embroidered aprons to tied kneeknockers for lads.
Riverboat cruises allow passengers to enjoy the county’s pastoral landscape nestled alongside the towering Hoosier and Kentucky hillsides. The Beer Garden and Wine Pavilion afford spots of tranquility where visitors can converse with old acquaintances and newly met travelers. Rigorous canoe racing, hefty stone tosses and splashing grape stomps beckon those who favor adventure. And all birthday records diminish to single numbers during the Grand Parade Saturday morning and the fireworks extravaganza hours later.
To reach the host destination, the Paul W. Ogle Riverfront Park, travelers just need to head south at the town’s only stoplight on Indiana State Road 56. The river and crowd, just two blocks ahead, always extend a hearty welcome!
