| Silversea Cruises.
Silversea’s all-inclusive ultra luxury vacations appeal to discriminating travelers accustomed to plush accommodations and attentive, individual service. The line’s yacht-like vessels, Silver Cloud and Silver Wind carry only 296 pampered guests in true splendor with one of the highest passenger space ratios of any ship at sea.
Silversea is distinguished by its award-winning all-suite ships, impeccable service and all-inclusive fares featuring: all outside suites (more than 75 percent with private verandas); round-trip airfare; pre-cruise deluxe hotel stay; all beverages, including select wines and spirits; all gratuities; all port charges; all transfers and porterage; and a special shoreside event, The Silversea Experience, on select sailings.
In September 2000 a third vessel, Silver Shadow, slightly larger and accommodating 388 guests, will join Silversea’s fleet, to be followed by an identical sister, Silver Mirage, in June 2001. At 11 decks high, 597 feet long, and 82 feet wide, the ships will have a draft of 19.5 feet and a maximum speed of 21 knots. Each ship will have 194 ocean-view suites, with more than 80 percent featuring private teak verandas. The ships have been designed to feature a greater concentration of larger suites located midship. New aboard each ship will be a Poolside Grille, an expanded Spa and fitness facility (62 percent larger), a Computer Center, a comprehensive Conference Center, Cigar Club and a Wine Bar.
Silversea’s vessels feature far-reaching and imaginative itineraries to the Mediterranean, Northern Europe and the Baltic, Africa and the exotic Spice Islands, India and the Red Sea, the South Pacific, including Australia and New Zealand, the Far East, South America, the Mexican Riviera, and the dramatic coastline of Canada and New England.
Silversea is offering their first World Cruise on January 3, 2001, when Silver Wind embarks from Los Angeles on a 126-day voyage that will travel west from California all the way to the very heart of London, covering five continents and more than 50 cities. Extended stays in many major ports will allow time to explore these engaging regions in depth. Exciting special events, lectures, and entertainment onboard and ashore offer new experiences and adventures throughout the cruise. Silversea is pleased to provide complimentary roundtrip First Class air transportation to all World Cruise guests who sail from Los Angeles to London (126 days) or from Los Angeles to Monte Carlo (111 days), and complimentary roundtrip Business Class air for those who cruise for 50 or more consecutive days of this voyage.
Since its inaugural in April 1994, Silversea's ultra-luxury cruises have consistently garnered the travel industry's most prestigious accolades. For an unprecedented fourth consecutive year, Silversea has been voted "World’s Best Small Ship Cruise Line" in the Annual Condé Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Awards (1996, 1997, 1998, 1999). Equally remarkable and also unprecedented, Silversea has swept the Condé Nast awards on both sides of the Atlantic having been recently voted "World’s Best Small Ship Cruise Line" in the UK Condé Nast Traveller Readers’ Choice Awards.
Additionally, Silversea has twice been named as the Number One Small Ship Cruise Line in the Travel & Leisure World’s Best Awards, and was recently named "Best of the Best" by the Robb Report. The line consistently receives the highest possible ratings by leading international guidebooks including: Fielding's Guide to Worldwide Cruises; Stern's Cruise Guide; Berlitz Complete Guide to Cruising; the Unofficial Cruise Guide; and Access Cruise Guide.
